Dr Martin Morrey gave a 45 minute presentation about using SkyScroll as an Airborne Sunshade
On the 17th October 2025, Dr Martin Morrey gave a 45 minute presentation to the Planetary Sunshade Foundation, about using SkyScroll as an “Airborne Sunshade”, particularly as a geoengineering intervention to protect and restore Arctic sea-ice, titled Introducting SkyScroll.
Martin explained his patented design for SkyScroll - a compound airship, which unrolls a buoyant flat envelope in the lower stratosphere - and how it could be good short-term complement to the space sunshade, by shading rapidly-deteriorating environments like the Arctic ocean, glaciated regions or reef systems.
A keys suggestion that emerged from the following discussion was to set-up a working group to examine the potential for an airborne sunshade as a short-term complement the space sunshade.
The Zoom recording of the presentation and discussion is still available.
Huge thanks to the team at the Planetary Sunshade Foundation for the opportunity to present SkyScroll to a completely new audience.
